Before you buy: 6 Things you have to consider and look for when buying a nose hair trimmer

1. Manual or electric

There are two types of nose hair trimmers: Manual and electric.

Manual nose trimmers don’t require any replaceable batteries or recharging to operate.

What does that mean?

You operate them manually with your fingers. They are perfect for traveling – as you won’t have to buy batteries or recharge all the time, and are more compact.

Nevertheless, as they are manual, they have less motor power which sometimes is a problem if you have thicker or longer hair.

On the other hand, electric nose trimmers have more motor power and get the job done faster with less effort. However, if you are buying an electric nose trimmer, you need to think if you prefer it operated with replaceable batteries or a rechargeable battery.

2. Versatility and included attachments

You should consider a nose trimmer that is versatile and able to trim other easy-to-miss areas such as ears and eyebrows.

A lot of nose trimmers are multipurpose, with some even including attachments for the beard, hair, and precision detailing work.

3.  Size and comfort

Another significant factor to think about is the size. If you are not traveling a lot, its size might not be as important. But, if you are taking trips abroad often, then a more compact and portable trimmer will fit effortlessly in your travel bag.

Compact trimmers are usually easier to storage at home, as well. Nose razors come in many shapes and sizes, so make sure to choose one that suits you best.

Comfort is another factor you should consider. Make sure to choose one that has an easy grip to avoid unwanted hair pulling or damage from accidental falls.

4. Type of trimmer head

The most well-known types of trimmer head available today are rotary, foil guard, and side action trimmer heads. Understanding how each of these operate will give you a grasp of how different nose hair trimmers work.

The most well-known types of trimmer head available today are rotary, foil guard, and side action trimmer heads. Understanding how each of these operate will give you a grasp of how different nose hair trimmers work.

Rotary trimmer heads are the most popular type. It features two razor blades that are placed vertically to a pillar that spins rotary very quickly. The blades are usually covered with a metallic cone that protects from any accidental cutting of the skin.

Foil guard trimmer heads are the most modern trimming heads that use a foil guard to protect the skin from cuts. Underneath the guard is a blade that vibrates rapidly back and forth. This type of trimming head is very thin, making it easier to trim with more precision, shorter hairs. However, as the blade is placed sideways, you need to push the trimmer further into your nose which, some might find irritating.

Side action trimmer heads feature a blade that moves side to side very fast. It is basically a smaller version of a typical beard trimmer. These types of trimmers are not very convenient in our opinion, as you can easily cut the insides of your nose if you don’t know how to use them. That is why we have excluded trimmers that utilize them from our options below.

5.  Is it waterproof, easy to clean?

Having a waterproof trimmer is the way to go if you usually like to shave in the shower. Having a waterproof trimmer also makes cleaning easier, as you can simply rinse off any leftover hair under the faucet instead of trying to clean everything with a brush.

6.  Price

A great nose trimmer doesn’t have to be expensive. You can find great nose trimmers at an affordable price. Nevertheless, depending on the brand, the quality, and the number of attachments, the price can vary.

Usually, the more attachments it includes, the higher the price. So, make sure you understand what it is that you want to get out of it and your needs before purchasing.

The 7 best ear, brow, and nose hair trimmers for men

1. Best overall, easy to clean: Panasonic ER430K Ear & Nose Trimmer with Vacuum

Panasonic ER430K Ear & Nose Trimmer with Vacuum

What stands out about this nose hair trimmer

  • Innovative dual-edge blades
  • Vacuum cleaning system makes it easy to clean
  • Powered with 1 AA battery

The best nose hair trimmer for

Men who want the overall best nose hair trimmer.

Overview

Panasonic is a very respected brand, and it is no coincidence that their Panasonic ER430K Ear & Nose Trimmer with Vacuum comes first on our list. It is a trimmer that has a lot of innovative features and, it gets the job done when it comes to nose and ear hair cutting.

Let’s take a closer look at what makes it unique.

It features an innovative vacuum system that sucks up hair and dirt into a built-in chamber.

While it sounds a bit gimmicky, we found it to be extra convenient, as you don’t need to clean fallen hair in your faucet after you finish your trimming session. The chamber makes it easy to dispose of the trimmed hair and keeps everything clean and tidy.

However, one thing to keep in mind is that when the chamber gets full, the trimming head slowers down which, can result in unwanted pulling rather than cutting. Because of that, you will always need to check and empty it out after a couple of uses.

Design and grip:

Holding the trimmer onto your hands definitely feels chubby and larger than usual nasal trimmers. This is because of the extra vacuum chamber we mentioned earlier. While it provides great grip, this chubbiness makes it not very suitable for traveling as it takes more storage space.

In any case, the quality of construction is pretty solid and will surely last if you take good care of it. Plus, it’s also waterproof, so it requires basically no effort to keep it clean.

But there’s more! Let’s talk about its blades and our cut experience.

The Panasonic ER430K features a rotary trimming head which, comes with hypoallergenic stainless steel dual cut blades. The head comes with a metallic protective safety cone that protects the skin from cutting while trimming.

Additionally, the blades are uniquely designed, having an extra curve that maximizes comfort and cutting performance.

We have to be honest. We found it to perform a pretty darn good job cutting the hair from the nose and ears effortlessly without any issues or pulling.

But…

While Panasonic advertises that it is also suitable for eyebrows and beards, we believe these are just unsupported marketing claims as we’ve found it to perform absolutely terrible at cutting very thick and shaggy hair.

As for the noise, we have to say that it is a bit noisy. This is probably because of the amount of air that flows through it because of its vacuum system. Nevertheless, we didn’t find the noise annoying.

Lastly, inside the box includes a travel/storage case, a protective lid (for the trimming head), and the trimmer itself. It is powered with 1 AA battery that needs to be replaced when it runs out – lasts approx. 90m of continuous usage. The battery is not included in the box.

If you are looking for a quieter nose trimmer, consider purchasing a manual one that is basically silent. ROYAL Anti-bac Nose Hair Trimmer for Men is a great example as it is also easy to clean, has a similar rotary trimming head, and is also waterproof. However, as it is not electric, it has less cutting power.

Furthermore, if you are looking for an electric nose hair trimmer that features a rechargeable battery, consider the MANSCAPED™ The Weed Whacker™ Nose and Ear Hair Trimmer. It has a battery that lasts for 90m before the need to recharge it and has a more powerful motor of 9,000 RPM. It is, however, a bit more expensive.

If you are looking for a trimmer that is very versatile, consider Philips Norelco Multigroomer All-in-One Trimmer Series 3000. It is a trimmer that includes attachments for even the hair and beard.

The good

  • High quality hypoallergenic dual-edge blades
  • Super easy to clean and maintain because of its vacuum system and its waterproof design
  • Solid grip
  • Great price

The bad

  • Some might find it noisy
  • Slows down when the vacuum chamber is full of hair
  • Chubby design might not be for some

Bottom line

This is a great nose trimmer that provides great overall performance.

2. Best manual, quiet, travel: ROYAL Anti-bac Nose Hair Trimmer ‘’Freikugel’’

ROYAL Anti-bac Nose Hair Trimmer ‘’Freikugel’’

What stands out about this nose hair trimmer

  • No batteries required
  • Compact size, great for traveling
  • Easy to use and maintain

The best nose hair trimmer for

Men who travel a lot, and prefer a battery-free and quiet nose trimmer.

Overview

I know, ‘’Freikugel’’ might not be an easy word to pronounce, but it is a really cool name for a nose trimmer, isn’t it?

You might be wondering, what is ‘’Freikugel’’?

Looking at this trimmer’s awesome design, you can assume immediately what it is. ‘’Freikugel’’ was a set of magic bullets in a famous German opera called ‘’The Freeshooter’’ which never missed their target due to their devilish powers.

While I can assure you that the ROYAL Anti-bac Nose Hair Trimmer ‘’Freikugel’’ doesn’t have any infernal powers, it does cut the stubborn nostril hair effortlessly… exactly like a bullet killing its target.

Put simply, this is a trimmer of true quality, and any man who prefers a manual nose trimmer should look no further.

Let’s dive in a little further.

First of all, it is designed with a rotary brass trimming head that is not only hypoallergenic, but it is also antibacterial.

The brass head cover protects the skin from accidental cuts while you trim. Its blades are sharp and are made of stainless steel, making them resistant to rust. We didn’t experience any issues with it, and most of the time, we couldn’t even feel the hairs gone as it cuts really smooth and quick.

Nevertheless, here and there, you might experience some light pulling if you are not steady enough while trimming your nose. But, this is basically evident in all manual nose trimmers due to their lack of motor power.

As a manual trimmer, it is battery-free, so you don’t have to worry about replacing or recharging any batteries, and, is also very compact in size. This makes it very practical if you travel a lot.

But there’s more.

Additionally, if you are sensitive to loud noises, you will definitely fall in love with this trimmer. It is completely noiseless, and according to ROYAL, it sounds 99% less than your regular electric trimmer.

It is also waterproof and thus, it is extremely easy to clean – just run it under the rap. And the design is very intuitive, meaning you can quickly disassemble and reconstruct as and when you need to. As a bonus, it also features a built-in cleaning brush, which is very easy to take out and clean the blades further, if necessary.

Of course, some flaws need to be mentioned. During the trimming process, you can’t target specific individual hairs quite so easily, and it isn’t as versatile as other trimmers on this list.

Additionally, we’ve also found that its durability is not the best. If you accidentally drop it several times, chances are you might need to buy another one.

The good

  • German quality stainless steel
  • Awesome design and looks
  • Very gentle action and safe to use
  • Super easy to keep clean and maintained – waterproof
  • Basically noise-free

The bad

  • Not as great for targeting specific individual hairs
  • Very fragile if you drop it accidentally

Bottom line

Any man who prefers a manual nose hair trimmer should look no further.

3. Best rechargeable, most powerful: MANSCAPED™ The Weed Whacker™ Nose and Ear Hair Trimmer

MANSCAPED™ The Weed Whacker™ Nose and Ear Hair Trimmer

What stands out about this nose hair trimmer

  • 9000 rpm motor
  • Rechargeable battery
  • IPX 7 waterproof

The best nose hair trimmer for

People who are looking for the most powerful and rechargeable nose trimmer out there.

Overview

Manscaped is a brand that is growing in popularity in recent years and, not without a reason. They are producing high quality trimmers, that help any man to simplify their grooming routine.

MANSCAPED™ The Weed Whacker™ Nose and Ear Hair Trimmer is probably the best electric nose trimmer on our list, but it didn’t make our number 1 spot because of one reason: its price.

Nevertheless, if you are on the market for a quality trimmer, despite the cost then, you are in for a treat.

Let’s explain more what makes it a top performer.

First of all, let’s talk about the elephant in the room: Its 9,000 rpm monstrous motor power – that powers its 360-degree dual blade system.

At first, we were a little skeptical about how a nose trimmer can have such much power, and we were wondering if it could live up to its high expectations.

Well, I have to say that it did. Our trimming experience was completely flawless, no matter how many times we used it or how thick the hair was, we didn’t experience any pulls or nicks. The dual-edge blade is sharp and cuts very smoothly due to its high rotation speed. An absolute charm!

But there’s more.

What added to its flawless experience was that it is very lightweight and easy to handle, thanks to an ergonomic design that allows you to hold it comfortably in your hand.

It’s also easy to maneuver and allows you to reach those hard-to-get hairs in the nether regions of your nose and ears due to its 23-degree angle.

If these weren’t enough, it is incredibly quiet, almost noiseless. Literally, this is the quietest electric nose trimmer we tried.

Additionally, unlike the competition, it features a 600mAh battery that is rechargeable and lasts around 90m when fully charged. But, it is important to point out that if the battery runs out, you are not able to use the device while charging, which is not very convenient, in our opinion.

In terms of cleaning, it is IPX7 waterproof making it very easy to clean. The rotary trimming head comes off for easier cleaning and is even replaceable when the blades wear off.

But, unfortunately, there is another drawback you need to consider.

First, the price is very high and surely not for everyone. If you are looking for an electric razor that is more affordable, then consider the next one on our list Cleanfly Ear and Nose Hair Trimmer for Men. While it might have a less powerful motor than the Manscape, it is waterproof and more versatile as it comes with other accessories for eyebrow cutting and beard detailing.

The good

  • Good for dry and wet trimming
  • Lightweight, easy to handle and maneuver to trim hairs that are hard to reach
  • Powerful 9,000 rpm motor that is unmatched
  • Long-lasting rechargeable battery – 90m
  • High-quality construction
  • Very quiet – almost noise-free

The bad

  • Very expensive
  • It can’t operate while charging
  • Not very versatile

Bottom line

Manscape surely knows how to make a premium nose trimmer that will surely cut even the thickest hair.

4. Best affordable: Cleanfly Ear and Nose Hair Trimmer for Men

Cleanfly Ear and Nose Hair Trimmer for Men

What stands out about this nose hair trimmer

  • Comes with a variety of attachments
  • Waterproof
  • Rechargeable battery

The best nose hair trimmer for

Men who are low on budget but still want a nose trimmer that is rechargeable, and performs well.

Overview

Cleanfly’s Ear and Nose Hair Trimmer is a futuristic-looking contraption that is very versatile. It is a true 4-in-1 set, allowing you to trim your nose hair, ear hair, eyebrows, and sideburns – all with this one rechargeable device!

The reality is, though, while this is not the best rechargeable nose hair trimmer you will find – it’s among the top rated nose hair trimmers you can get at this affordable price tag.

For one thing, it features a decently powerful motor of 6500 rpm, which might not be as powerful as the Manscape’s rechargeable nose trimmer we have reviewed before, but it still does a decent job.

It is capable of cutting hair without any unpleasant pullings, but you might find that it struggles a little bit when the hair is coarse or thick.

The size of this trimmer is compact despite being electric. Holding it in your hands, it doesn’t feel overly cheap but not as premium and sturdy as the Manscape’s Weed Whacker. Definitely, it is very decent for the price, however.

Adding to the above, it is very lightweight and easy to maneuver with. Changing attachments is also as easy as ever. Just pop off the blade cover by moving it sideways to the right.

Additionally, it is waterproof, so you can even wash it under the sink or trim while showering.

As for the battery, it needs 4 hours to fully charge. However, while Cleanfly suggests that the battery lasts around 65 minutes with continuous usage, we found it to be more around 45-50m. In any case, some trimmers perform even worse, so we won’t complain about it.

As for the noise it produces, we were actually really surprised, as it was not that bad. The Panasonic ER430K Ear & Nose Trimmer with Vacuum is a lot louder than Cleanfly, but still not as quiet as the Manscape.

If you are looking for a nose trimmer that is more versatile than this, consider Philips Norelco Multigroomer All-in-One Trimmer Series 3000. It is a trimmer powerful enough to act as a beard and hair clipper. It features 13 attachments, allowing you to have an all-in-one solution to your grooming needs. However, it is important to note that it is not waterproof and is a bit more expensive.

The good

  • It’s extremely versatile
  • Really solid value at an affordable price
  • Very lightweight to hold
  • Solid blade

The bad

  • Long charging time
  • Attachments are easy to break if not taken good care of

Bottom line

One of the best cheap nose hair trimmers you can find out there.

5. Most versatile, multipurpose: Philips Norelco Multigroomer All-in-One Trimmer Series 3000

Philips Norelco Multigroomer All-in-One Trimmer Series 3000

What stands out about this nose hair trimmer

  • Comes with great attachments
  • Rechargeable battery
  • Fast charging technology

The best nose hair trimmer for

Men who want a versatile trimmer.

Overview

Well, it wouldn’t be a review of the best nose hair trimmers if we didn’t include at least one Philips Norelco product.

Philips Norelco is a trusted brand not only in the US but also, around the world. It is a brand that definitely puts some thought behind each of its products, and this is totally the case with their Philips Norelco Multigroomer All-in-One Trimmer Series 3000.

So, what makes this trimmer special?

Its attachments.

But, we know what you are thinking. Multipurpose grooming tools are often a little problematic – they tend to do everything not very well. But that’s absolutely not true in the case of Philips’ Norelco Nose Trimmer, which is highly effective in every way.

It features three hair guards, four beard and stubble guards, and three trimmer attachments for nose, ear, and detailed trimming. As a plus, it also includes a handy storage pouch that you can use when traveling. There’s also a cleaning brush.

As this is a multigroomer, its size is obviously bigger than regular nose trimmers. Nevertheless, it is very ergonomic, comfortable to hold, and is non-slippery.

Its blades are made from high quality stainless steel and are designed to withstand any rust and be tough.

Using the nose trimming attachment, we must say that cutting nose and ear hair works like a charm. It might not be as lightweight as other trimmers on our list, but you will definitely appreciate its versatility. While using it, we didn’t experience any hair tugging or pulling.

As for the battery life, we found it to be pretty decent at around 60m. The cool thing is that if the battery runs out, you can quickly charge it for 5 minutes to get juice for a single shave. Not many trimmers offer quick charging capabilities and this, is definitely a plus on Norelco’s behalf.

One thing that we considered as a disadvantage, however, is that it doesn’t have anything to indicate that it is still charging or it is fully charged.

Lastly, it is not waterproof. If you are looking for a waterproof rechargeable trimmer, consider MANSCAPED™ The Weed Whacker™ Nose and Ear Hair Trimmer, if you are on the hunt for something powerful and premium, or Cleanfly Ear and Nose Hair Trimmer for Men, if you are looking for something decent and affordable.

The good

  • Super versatile
  • Easy to maintain
  • Solid cutting performance
  • Great price

The bad

  • No indication that it is fully charged
  • The storage bag feels cheap

Bottom line

One trimmer to rule them all hair!

6. Best foil guarded: PHILIPS Norelco Ear & Nose Trimmer

PHILIPS Norelco Ear & Nose Trimmer

What stands out about this nose hair trimmer

  • 1/8” and 3/16” eyebrow combs
  • Comes with a free AA battery and a protective cover
  • Waterproof

The best nose hair trimmer for

Men looking for a foil guarded nose trimmer.

Overview

It is no surprise that we have included Philips Norelco for the second time on our list. It is one of the most trusted brands worldwide, after all.

Their PHILIPS Norelco Ear & Nose Trimmer with Advanced Protec-Tube Technology is one of the best we have tried if you are looking for a foil guarded nose trimmer.

First of all, it features a foil guarded trimming head that is ultra-thin. This allows you to have more precision when you are placing the trimming head to cut shorter or difficult-to-reach hair. It fits the nose effortlessly, and as the cutting experience goes, we didn’t find it to pinch or irritate the skin while using it. The foil protection does a pretty good job protecting it.

The blades are slightly angled, which we found to help reach all parts that need trimming easier. We didn’t experience any hair pulling or tugging.

Holding it in your hand feels very comfortable and non-slippery. It features a rubber grip, which provides maximum control even when using it with wet hands, such as in the shower. The hold it provides definitely gives the impression that this is a premium product.

As said, you can use it in the shower, so it is water-resistant. Because of that, cleaning it is just a matter of rinsing it off.

Inside the box, it includes one AA battery, 1/8” and 3/16” eyebrow combs, and a protective cover.

However, there were some things we didn’t like.

While it does a pretty great job in cutting hair, we found it to struggle a bit when trimming thicker areas. While this is not always an issue, you need to keep it in mind.

Additionally, if you are looking for a trimmer that will not give you hearing loss, then look elsewhere as this thing is loud. Well ok, hearing loss is a bit of an exaggeration, but you get the point.

If you are looking for a quiet electric nose trimmer, then MANSCAPED™ The Weed Whacker™ Nose and Ear Hair Trimmer has you covered. It is almost muted when trimming.

The good

  • Very comfortable on the hand
  • Water-resistant and easily washable
  • Doesn’t pinch the skin or pull the hair

The bad

  • Not very effective on thicker hair
  • Very loud

Bottom line

Philips Norelco Ear & Nose Trimmer is a foil guarded nose trimmer that exceeds any expectations when it comes to protecting the skin from accidental cuts and irritation.

7. Best manual runner up: Groom Mate Platinum XL Nose & Ear Hair Trimmer

Groom Mate Platinum XL Nose & Ear Hair Trimmer

What stands out about this nose hair trimmer

  • Durable stainless steel design
  • Works silently
  • Lifetime guarantee

The best nose hair trimmer for

Men looking for a gentle nose hair trimming experience.

Overview

Groom Mate has been committed to the skill of making nose hair trimmers since 1991, and their products are sold in more than 40 countries across the world.

Groom Mate Platinum XL Nose & Ear Hair Trimmer is one of them.

First, it doesn’t rely on a battery or motor for power as it uses a manual system similar to the ROYAL Anti-bac Nose Hair Trimmer ‘’Freikugel’’. Trimming with the Groom Mate Platinum XL is simply a matter of placing the trimmer in your nose (or ear) and twisting the bottom of the unit.

Yes, as a manual trimmer, it doesn’t provide the high motor power that an electric trimmer provides but, nevertheless, in our experience, it does get the job done nicely.

It provides a gentle cut without any tugging if it is used properly – you will probably experience some pulling at the beginning until you pass the short learning curve.

Find where the hair is in your nose, keep it steady, and twist the bottom in a quick but gentle manner. Then, make sure that no hair is stuck in the blades (by moving it slightly) and pull it out gently.

Pulling the trimmer out of your nose without checking if the hair is stuck will definitely make your eyes water.

The blades are made from stainless steel, so you know they are rust-free.

The trimmer itself is waterproof, easy to clean, and doesn’t produce any sound.

But, as for the drawbacks.

The blade head of this trimmer is less protective to the skin than the ‘’Freikugel’’ we have reviewed previously. The Freikugel’s blade head features curved edges which, minimize the risk of cutting through your flesh. If you are a beginner who wants to experiment with manual nose trimmers, it is just preferable to go with the ‘’Freikugel’’.

The good

  • Pure stainless steel design ensures durability
  • With no battery or other power source, it works silently
  • Blades are sharp

The bad

  • Easy to cut yourself or pull your hair, if you don’t know how to use it

Bottom line

A great manual nose trimmer that is very compact and sharp.

How we chose the best nose and ear hair trimmers

Undeniably, there are thousands of nose trimmers or nose clippers out there, so we couldn’t check each one of them.

We tried to select a few that have positive reviews and suit a variety of needs, such as versatility, rechargeability, price, etc., to test and identify the best performing ones.

From the few we have tested, we handpicked the best performers, which are the ones that made our list.

If you think we missed some great options or disagree with some of our picks, then, by all means, drop us a comment below.

We always look for ways to improve our articles and include better products when appropriate.

Should you trim your hair?

Nose hair serves an important reason when it comes to our body’s immune system.

They act as a filter that helps keep out a variety of nasty stuff such as toxins, bacteria, dust, and other pollutants that try to enter our nose and body while we breathe.

That is why it is not such a good idea to completely remove our nostril hair. However, we can definitely trim long and coarse hair that might unexpectedly make an appearance for everyone to see.

A nose hair trimmer just trims the length of the hair and does not remove it completely, allowing the hair to continue to filter out the bad stuff.

How to use a nose and ear hair trimmer (A simple, illustrated guide)

how to use a nose hair trimmer 1

Before you begin, make sure you have a well-lit room. If nothing else, it’s a matter of safety for when you start trimming back those pesky hairs.

It’s also beneficial to have access to a mirror, whether it’s a regular bathroom mirror or a magnifying mirror designed specifically for this purpose.

how to use a nose hair trimmer 2

Next: clean out your nose. Give your trimmer a clear shot at doing its job, which it won’t if your nose is filled with, ahem, debris.

Also, spread out the hairs with a napkin or moist cloth for even finer cutting. Tilt your head back for a better perspective and a better chance of executing the task correctly.

You may even use your finger to push your nose back for a better view; it may appear too complicated, but it’s always preferable to chopping away blindly.

how to use a nose hair trimmer 3Finally, it’s best to start at the front and work your way back, removing the most apparent nose hair first – those that are causing you the most grooming headaches – before venturing deeper into the jungle.

how to use a nose hair trimmer 4

Many of the same principles apply to ear hair trimming. Cleaning your ears is a good place to start. Q-tips are a popular choice, but be careful not to force them into your ear canal too hard or too far, since this can cause serious harm.

Similarly, your trimmer should fit comfortably into your ear. Subtlety, not brutal strength, is required. When things start to get a little too much for you, take a step back.

How often should you trim your nose and ear hair?

There is no right answer because everyone’s hair grows at a different pace. Rest assured, it’s best to nip it in the bud before it becomes embarrassing.

Do nose hair trimmers hurt?

Using a nose trimmer won’t hurt. The blades aren’t shaving the hairs down to the skin; they’re simply trimming them to a length that won’t protrude from your nose. Consider it similar to having a haircut.

Conclusion

Well, that’s it with our review of the best nose hair trimmers on the market.

We hope that you found the information provided useful.

What are your experiences with nose hair trimmers, good or bad? We’d love to hear from you.

  • The Panasonic ER430K I bought 7 months ago worked great – until 3 weeks ago when it quit working. Even though it’s still under warranty, Panasonic won’t pay for shipping back to them, so to get it repaired I’d have to spend $15 to ship – just to get another $15 trimmer. See ya later Panasonic…

  • I bought a trimmer years ago for the rather embarrassing nasal hair. I used it 3 or 4 times and it pulled horribly which put me off nasal hair trimmers ever since.
Good tutorial. That cutting noise is so satisfying.

  • Try ConairMAN nose Trimmer with unique mushroom-shaped blade tip that works better than any nose hair trimmer ever.

  • On the Panasonic ER-GN30-K cons: ”Replacement blades cost as much as the trimmer itself” I’ve never heard of a nose and ear hair trimmer to need the blades replaced. How often would you have to trim your nose and ear hair for the blades to be replaced? I trim mine once a week. Why would you need to replace the blades of an ear and nose hair trimmer? It’s not like you have a forest of hair in the ear and nose.

  • Hi!
    Thank you for the reviews.
I’m searching for the best quality nose trimmer for my Dad, who has very coarse hair. He has one now that doesn’t trim his nose hairs, because of the thickness.
Can anyone recommend which of these, or any other brand, would be the best.
    I appreciate any help.
    Thanks so much!
    😉

    • Hello. I’m confident any of the nose trimmers listed here can handle your dad’s nose hair. Perhaps ask yourself what other features would your dad appreciate most. Cleanliness? Portability? Versatility?

  • I own the ER-GN30-K and I’m completely disappointed in it. the switch seems to be faulty. If I wiggle it and press in on it it sometimes works. But not always. Fresh battery makes no difference. The build quality seems dirt cheap. I’ve tried pulling out the battery spring to improve contact and it feels like tin, not any kind of spring steel. So, sadly, I’m disinclined to buy the top of the line unit in your review as it’s the same brand.

  • My issue is ear hairs — they’re blond, so hard to spot — that is, until some “friend” grabs one (not cool, fool, wait ’til you’re 50!). Problem is, I’ve tried a number of these over the years. The two I have (a Remington, and a “Clio”) collect dust as a reward for their uselessness. Maybe it’s my curly hair, but neither does cuts my ear hairs, and isn’t much better with nostrils (at least for these, I can see to cut with scissors). . The Remington has the more open trimmer (dual edged, like the Philips Norelco above, it makes me bleed if not careful). While the “Clio” has the same recessed top as the Panasonic above, but does nothing for me. If you’ve got any suggestions, I’m all ear (hairs). Meanwhile, I’ve got a suggestion your readers might like: Painful as it briefly is, one of the best ways I’ve found to “refresh” a more youthful look is to go to those little booths in the malls, usually staffed by knowledgeable Indian women who grew up knowing the subtle art of “eyebrow threading”. As guys age, some of us get those bushy “mad professor eyebrows” (sometimes, grey or white ones) along with those other charming features you’ve covered. Yep, (all is) vanity, for sure. But most guys miss what an impact these make. After all, we ”wear” them all the time, so they become kind of iinvisible to us. Anyway, there simply isn’t a better way to trim these. “Threading” once per month is a minor discomfort that only lasts minutes (though: it’s more painful the first time, and if you wait too long). But the difference is huge: Along with threading to trim, they subtly shape male eyebrows to a more youthful proportion. It’s actually one of the best “bang for my buck” ways I know to groom for a more youthful appearance.

  • Does that electric steel one leave enough hair for natural filtering? I’ve gotta decide between that and the other manual steel one. I used to have a manual one called Bullet or something that I can’t find, so I might switch up to try electric if you can confirm that it doesn’t trim too short.

    • Hey. Both electric nose hair trimmers in this review don’t trim all the way and leave a little bit of length.

    • Have you ever trimmed your nose hairs and found yourself with NOT “enough hair for natural filtering?” 😂🤣

And if so, what is the result of trimming your whiskers too low?
